Bass drums are generally created from only one bit of tree trunk, usually mango or cedar, that is hollowed out by either lathe or hand. Older, bigger drums had been manufactured from the dense but mild bodyweight cottonwood tree which isn't identified right now. Some bass drum shells are mad
